Past Projects

Village Dispensary Projects in Partnership with HAPA (2005-2015)

These projects were conducted in partnership with the Health Action Promotion Association (HAPA), which is a small NGO based in the Singida region in Tanzania.

1). Village dispensaries lacked adequate medical equipment, specifically for maternal and child health related services. Therefore, the aim of these projects was to provide the dispensaries with necessary medical equipment. This way, people can seek local health service instead of travelling long distance to other dispensaries.

The following villages were provided with necessary medical equipment: Urughu, Londoni, Choda and Matumbo.

Londoni village: Handing over microscope
Choda village: Handing over infant weighing scale

2). Mapando village project aimed to provide the community with proper hygiene facilities and education on hygiene and sanitation best practices. The most prevalent diseases in Mapando are related to poor hygiene and environmental community practises and this project was therefore established to reduce the incidence of these preventable diseases.

The aim of these projects was to improve access to proper health care to rural villages in Tanzania, especially maternal and child health. Building a dispensary close to the communities promotes village sustainability and provides the community with necessary primary health care needs.
